Our Twisted Tales Night takes place in a cavernous empty shop unit that lies beneath the Capitol Shopping Centre. We will be screening some dark, weird and just plain unsettling shorts with a sprinkling of gore and things you probably shouldn’t laugh at. Expect added zombies, gory make-up demonstrations – along with a bar and nacho stand.
Presented by Abertoir – The International Horror Festival of Wales, we’ll be screening 5 of their favourite horror shorts that have been screened at their festival. These include several winners of the Short Film Méliès d’Argent and the Abertoir Short Film Award.
Abertoir is an annual horror and horror film festival based in Aberystwyth Arts Centre. It’s Wales’ only dedicated horror festival and is a member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation. As well as screening new, big-budget horror films – classic and independent films form a large and important part of the festival line-up. Each year, the Abertoir Short Films Competition showcases horror and fantasy short films from around the world. In addition to film screenings, the festival regularly features concerts, theatre shows, talks and special guest Q&As in its line-up. This year’s Abertoir will take place 13-18th November – visit www.abertoir.co.uk for more info.
In support of the BFI Uprising The Spirit Of ‘68 Season, we will be screening George A. Romero’s zombie classic Night Of The Living Dead. I don’t think we really need to tell you what happens in this one.
