Established in 2012, Cardiff Mini Film Festival supports new and emerging filmmakers and low budget films, annually taking over unusual spaces across Cardiff to screen work by some of the most exciting up and coming filmmakers.

This year we’re making things a bit simpler and safer with a 2-day festival at Chapter Arts Centre from Saturday 2nd – Sunday 3rd October.

We’ll be showcasing a programme of shortlisted films from across our festival categories before announcing the winners at the awards ceremony:

Big Spender, Low Budget, Documentary, Animation, Music Video, Twisted Tales, One Minute Wonder, Welsh Film Award, Ffresh Student Award.

Come and meet the team on Saturday evening at Chapter for our Film Networking Social, an informal and relaxed networking space where you can meet, make connections and collaborate and hear from guest speakers on their journeys to make it in the film industry.

The festival shortlist will be announced in late August and tickets go on sale in early September – keep an eye on our socials for updates!

All kinds of people come to our festival, from actors to musicians, as well as special guests from within the industry including; Boyd Clack (Twin Town, Satellite City, High Hopes), Kirsten Jones (Satellite City, High Hopes), Philip John (Being Human, Downton Abbey), Kevin Allen (Twin Town), Ryan Eddleston (Prevenge), S4C, Ffilm Cymru Wales, Creative Skillset, Cult Cymru and many more people to meet to discuss your career in the industry.

We’re also known for special, one-off screenings of cult classics in unexpected places, including: Dark Crystal at Cardiff Masonic Hall, Scott Pilgrim vs The World at Kongs and Night of the Living Dead in a disused shopping centre unit.
